Mortada Mansour returns to the presidency of the Zamalek club

Today, Sunday, the Administrative Court of the State Council accepted Mortada Mansour, the former president of the Egyptian Premier League football club, Zamalek, against the decision to dissolve his council.

The court’s decision stipulates “the cancellation of the contested decision of the Minister of Youth and Sports, which is the dissolution of the Zamalek club’s board of directors and the appointment of a temporary committee, with the consequences of this, especially the return of the elected board of directors of the club until the end of its legal period, and the Ministry of Youth is obligated to pay the expenses.”

There was no immediate comment from the temporary committee that runs the Zamalek club headed by Hussein Labib.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports also did not comment on the ruling.

Judicial sources said that the ruling issued by the Administrative Court is considered a ruling of first degree, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports has the right to appeal the ruling in the Supreme Administrative Court within a maximum period of 60 days, and if the ministry does not appeal within that period, the ruling becomes final.

The sources added, "The Supreme Administrative Court is the highest judicial authority and has the right to annul or uphold the administrative court ruling issued."

The Ministry of Youth issued a decision on November 29, 2020, to form a temporary committee to run Zamalek after the Mansour Council was dissolved on charges of financial and administrative violations.

The Ministry referred a report of violations to the Public Prosecution, which has not yet been decided upon.
