Many students from the Saint-Exupéry college in Chaumont-en-Vexin (Oise) were victims of food poisoning on Thursday.

In total, the firefighters and the Samu took care of 73 teenagers who had eaten in the canteen at lunchtime.

Sixteen of them were hospitalized for additional examinations, reports France 3 Hauts-de-France.

At the beginning of the afternoon, several dozen college students had complained of stomach aches, headaches and had been vomiting.

Very quickly, an important rescue device was deployed on the spot, but the firefighters were reassuring about the state of health of the students, indicates

Cold meals ordered

An investigation will be carried out by the Regional Health Agency and the Beauvais prosecutor's office has also opened an investigation for "unintentional injuries resulting in an ITT of less than three months".

The gendarmes have already seized leftover meals for analysis.

A Department representative told our colleagues that the head of the canteen was on strike on Thursday.

Cold meals were therefore ordered from an external company.
