Three police officers were injured while trying to stop the driver of a scooter during a speed check on Saturday morning in Montpellier. The police of the Montpellier motorcycle brigade were carrying out around 10 a.m. a speed control on a roundabout when they spotted a scooter traveling at 105 km / h instead of the 50 authorized, that is to say twice the authorized limit. The driver attempted to flee and injured the police who were trying to control him.

Called to stop by the police, the driver "pretended to slow down, then accelerated and bypassed the police officer", explains the DDSP. In his escape, he struck two other officers nearby and fell before trying to escape, police said.
The departmental direction of public security (DDSP) of Hérault indicated that two of the police officers were injured after being struck by the scooter: "one in the knee and the second, more seriously injured, suffered from back pain and to the legs". The third policeman was injured in the hand while arresting the driver of the two-wheeler who was trying to escape. The three officials were to undergo medical examinations.
The driver was driving without a license and without insurance
The 25-year-old driver, without a license to drive a scooter over 500cc and without insurance, was finally caught by the first police officer who signaled him to stop. "Slightly injured", the driver of the scooter, known to the police, was taken into custody, police said.
