His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, affirmed the UAE's support for any alliances and initiatives that reach humans scientifically and cognitively to the farthest planets and galaxies.

His Highness said in a tweet on Twitter on the occasion of the launch of the International Space Conference in the UAE: "The most prestigious conference and exhibition for space in the world will be launched in its 72nd session in the UAE, with the participation of 110 countries, all heads of international space agencies, 4,000 participants, and 100 international space companies. I welcome everyone to the land of the UAE, and we support alliances and initiatives that reach people scientifically and cognitively to the farthest planets and galaxies.”

Today, the largest conference specialized in the space sector in the world will be launched under the slogan “Inspiration, innovation, and discoveries in the service of humanity.”

Dubai’s hosting of the 2021 International Astronautical Conference comes ahead of the UAE’s celebration of the golden jubilee of its founding, and as part of its efforts to achieve further development in the UAE space sector, starting with the launch of the first Emirati satellite into space, passing through the deployment of a number of satellites in orbit around the Earth, Launching the first Arab project to explore Mars, establishing Emirati astronaut crews, contributing to the establishment of the Arab Group for Space Cooperation, and other achievements that made the UAE a pioneer in the fields of space exploration and related technologies.

The conference is held following the conclusion of the Space Week activities held at Expo 2020 Dubai, and witnessed the participation of a distinguished group of astronauts and specialists, and shed light on a variety of topics, ranging from the UAE’s vision in the field of space, to the fields of exploration and sustainability, among others.

The International Astronautical Conference will be held this year under the theme “Inspiration, Creativity, and Discovery for the Benefit of Humanity.” The conference also provides unique networking opportunities, as its organizers focus on establishing constructive alliances and partnerships, and enhancing cooperation globally and regionally.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, said: “We are committed to consolidating the local space sector by supporting our space exploration programs and enhancing their presence in the region and the world. In turn, Youssef Hamad Al Shaibani, Director General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, said: “The UAE’s hosting of this year’s edition of the conference confirms our commitment to supporting the growth and development of the space sector globally, and we are proud to be the first Arab country to host this important event for which we have mobilized all the guarantees that guarantee His success in the fullest possible way.”

He added: “Hosting the conference constitutes an essential station for strengthening the vital system of the space sector, establishing major alliances, and building bridges of knowledge with leading international space agencies, and for the benefit of all mankind.

In addition, we hope that this hosting will also be an encouraging initiative for various countries in the region to join the International Astronautical Federation, communicate with global partners in this field, and support the next generation of specialists.”

The Deputy Director General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center and Chairman of the Conference Host Committee, Salem Al-Marri, said in a video clip posted by the center on Twitter: "The conference is one of the largest global events in the field of space, and we are pleased to host it in Dubai, and we are waiting for the presence of various space agencies, The academic community, and universities,” adding that the conference will be one of the largest gatherings this year for the space sector.

The conference agenda includes a round table session for heads of space agencies, and a number of sessions focusing on the 60/61 exploration project, the future of Mars, sampling missions, the role of emerging space agencies, small satellites that carry out missions to solve climate problems, and solutions Innovative space search and rescue, critical applications, and social responsibility in the space sector.

The integrated technical program will provide a large number of presentations through a selection committee to be supervised by the International Astronautical Federation, noting that more than 2,300 research and scientific papers from more than 86 countries will be presented.
