Mainz (dpa / lrs) - In an ambulance in Mainz, a lost tire almost led to an accident during an operation.
The ambulance was on Sunday with an emergency patient on the way to a hospital, as the police announced early Monday morning.
The car suddenly skidded.
The 29-year-old driver was still able to bring the vehicle to a stop.
Nobody was hurt.
The emergency patient was delayed in a hospital.
The reason for the skid was missing wheel nuts, which caused the tire to be lost, it said.
Why the screws came loose is unclear.
The public prosecutor is now investigating whether the wheel nuts were deliberately removed or whether a mistake was made when installing the winter tires.
