The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology today (16th) officially released the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Information and Communication Industry".

The "Plan" proposes that a new, safe and reliable digital infrastructure will be basically completed by 2025.

  The overall goal of the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Information and Communication Industry" is that by 2025, the overall scale of the information and communication industry will be further expanded, the quality of development will be significantly improved, and a new type of high-speed ubiquitous, integrated interconnection, intelligent and green, safe and reliable digital will be basically built. Infrastructure, innovation capabilities have been greatly enhanced, emerging business types have developed vigorously, and the ability to empower the digital transformation and upgrading of the economy and society has been comprehensively improved.

The "Plan" puts forward 26 development priorities and 21 projects in terms of building new digital infrastructure, expanding digital development space, building a new industry management system, strengthening network security assurance systems and capacity building, and cross-regional and cross-industry overall coordination.

  Compared with the previous five-year plan, this “plan” highlights the functions and positioning of the information and communication industry: it is a strategic, basic and fundamental way to build a new national digital infrastructure, provide network and information services, and fully support economic and social development. Leading industry.

In terms of indicator selection, 8 indicators have been added for the deployment and application of new digital infrastructure such as 5G, gigabit optical network, and industrial Internet compared to the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan".

  At present, the number of 5G mobile phone terminal connections in my country has exceeded 450 million, the gigabit optical network has the ability to cover more than 240 million households, and the scale and number of users of 5G and gigabit networks have achieved global leadership.
