China News Service, May 26. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment held a regular press conference in May on the 26th. Jiang Huohua, deputy director of the Department of Ecological Environment Monitoring, introduced at the meeting that in accordance with the Environmental Protection Law and the Marine Environmental Protection Law, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment will jointly Relevant departments have compiled the 2021 China Ecological Environment Bulletin and the 2021 China Marine Ecological Environment Bulletin, which were officially released today.

The communique shows that in 2021, the main indicators of the national ecological environment quality will be successfully completed, and the ecological environment quality will be significantly improved.

Mainly reflected in the "four more":

  First, the air is cleaner.

The number of cities meeting air quality standards and the proportion of good days continued to rise, and the concentration of major pollutants dropped across the board.

Among the 339 cities at the prefecture level and above, 218 cities met the air quality standards, accounting for 64.3%, up 3.5 percentage points year-on-year; the proportion of good days was 87.5%, up 0.5 percentage points year-on-year.

The annual average concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5), inhalable particulate matter (PM10), ozone (O3), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and carbon monoxide (CO) decreased for the first time year-on-year. Among them, PM2 .5 is 30 micrograms/cubic meter, down 9.1% year-on-year. Since the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan", "six consecutive declines" have been achieved; O3 is 137 micrograms/cubic meter, down 0.7% year-on-year, and PM2.5 and O3 concentrations have continued for two consecutive years. Annual double decline.

The air quality in key areas such as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and surrounding areas, the Yangtze River Delta region, and the Fenwei Plain has improved significantly.

  Second, the water is clearer.

The proportion of surface water grades I-III in the country was 84.9%, an increase of 1.5 percentage points year-on-year.

The water quality of key river basins has continued to improve. The water quality of the Yangtze River and Pearl River basins has continued to be excellent. The water quality of the Yellow River basin has improved significantly, and the water quality of the Huaihe and Liaohe basins has improved from mild pollution to good.

The proportion of water quality points of grade I-IV in the national groundwater is 79.4%.

94.2% of the 876 in-use centralized drinking water sources monitored by cities at the prefecture level and above have reached the standard, and the overall rate has remained stable.

The overall quality of sea water in the sea areas under its jurisdiction continued to improve, the proportion of sea areas with excellent water quality continued to increase, and the area of sea areas with poor water quality continued to decline.

The area of sea areas that met the first-class seawater quality standards accounted for 97.7%, an increase of 0.9 percentage points year-on-year; the area of sea areas inferior to class-4 seawater quality decreased by 8,720 square kilometers year-on-year.

The proportion of coastal waters with good water quality (Class I and II) was 81.3%, up 3.9 percentage points year-on-year.

  Third, the soil is safer.

The increasing trend of soil pollution has been initially curbed, the safe utilization rate of contaminated farmland has been stabilized at more than 90%, the safe use of key construction land has been effectively guaranteed, and the soil environment of agricultural land has been generally stable.

The overall sound quality of cities across the country is improving. The compliance rate of various functional areas in 324 prefecture-level and above cities is 95.4% during the day, up 0.8 percentage points year-on-year; and 82.9% at night, up 2.8 percentage points year-on-year.

The radiation environment quality and the radiation environment level around key facilities are generally good.

The reduction of carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP has reached the "14th Five-Year Plan" schedule.

Fourth, the ecology is more beautiful.

The National Ecological Quality Index (EQI) value was 59.77, and the comprehensive evaluation of ecological quality was "Class II", indicating that my country is rich in biodiversity, with a high proportion of natural ecosystem coverage, a relatively complete ecological structure, and a relatively complete function.

Among them, the counties with the ecological quality of the first category account for 27.7% of the country's land area, and are mainly distributed in the Daxing'an Mountains and Changbai Mountains in the northeast, and the southeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau; the second category of counties accounts for 32.1%, mainly in the Sanjiang Plain and the Inner Mongolia Plateau. , the Loess Plateau, the Kunlun Mountains, the Sichuan Basin, the Pearl River Delta and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River plain.

Class I and Class II total about 60%.
