Marcelo leaves Real Madrid after 15 years and 25 titles
Veteran Brazilian defender Marcelo announced his departure from Real Madrid, one day after winning the Champions League for the 14th time in the history of the royal club.
The left-back Marcelo, 34, has played for Real Madrid since 2007, and played about 550 games with the team, to be second behind French striker Karim Benzema in the list of foreign players most participating with the Royal Club.
Marcelo, who sat on the bench during the 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Champions League final on Saturday evening, confirmed that he will leave Real Madrid after his contract expires at the end of next June.
"It was my last game with Real Madrid," said Marcelo.
Marcelo leaves Real Madrid after winning 25 titles, as the most title-winning player in the club's history.
Speculation has been raised about the possibility of Marcelo agreeing to reduce his salary in order to stay at Real Madrid next season.
Marcelo, who joined Real from Fluminense, has participated in 18 matches this season in all competitions.
