Leipzig (dpa) - Mandatory task mastered: Despite a lot of new staff and without shine, RB Leipzig landed the expected victory against Arminia Bielefeld.

The team of coach Julian Nagelsmann won 2-1 (1-0) against the promoted team and kept up with the league leaders FC Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

Angeliño (29th minute) and Christopher Nkunku (47th) scored for Leipzig.

Bielefeld only managed the consolation goal through Fabian Klos (75th).

Tactically, Nagelsmann relied on proven processes, played with a three-man chain and a striker.

In terms of personnel, however, the 33-year-old rotated more than rarely.

The coach certainly had the game in the Champions League on Wednesday at Istanbul Basaksehir in mind.

Six new players were on the starting line-up compared to the game at Paris Saint-Germain during the week.

In the attack, the hitherto hapless Alexander Sörloth was given a new chance.

However, the Arminia got the better start through Ritsu Doan.

A shot by the Japanese (8th) was blocked in dire need.

RB then did not necessarily become more dominant, but more determined in the attacking moves.

A volley and a shot by Angeliño (12/24) just missed the goal, but the Spaniard did not miss the third attempt.

After the dream pass of the only 18-year-old Lazar Samardžić, Angeliño Cédric Brunner and Arminia goalkeeper Stefan Ortega turned and pushed the ball into the empty goal.

For Angeliño it was the fourth goal of the season in the league.

Even more impressive: since his competitive debut for RB in February, no other Leipzig resident has collected as many goals as the loan from Manchester City.

Angeliño scored seven goals himself and set up another seven.

After 35 minutes, the full-back almost went up, but the angle was just too sharp for his shot.

Bielefeld was by no means discouraged and sought his chances above all through the tricky Doan.

Shortly before the break, the loan from PSV Eindhoven international Marcel Halstenberg hung smoothly, but his shot from close range missed the goal by a few centimeters.

And so Bielefeld was the only team in the league to remain without a goal in the first half.

Nagelsmann was not satisfied despite the lead and made tactical changes.

Back four and two strikers was the concept for the second half - and it took effect immediately.

Dani Olmo, who was summoned to attack, intercepted a back pass from Amos Pieper to Ortega and put the ball to Nkunku, who had just been substituted, who easily hit the empty goal.

For the French, it was the first Bundesliga goal since June.

After Pieper fouled Sörloth in the penalty area, the Norwegian had a great chance of scoring his first RB goal.

Emil Forsberg gave the attacker the ball for a penalty kick - but Sörloth (73) missed.

Almost in return, Klos scored his first Bundesliga goal after an unfortunate extension of the head by Willi Orban.
