Manchester United officially announce their new coach
Manchester United announced on Monday the appointment of German Ralf Rangnick as interim coach until the end of the season, eight days after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The club said in a statement: "Manchester United is pleased to announce the appointment of Ralf Rangnick as interim coach until the end of the season, provided that he obtains the required work visa. After his mission ends, United and Rangnick have agreed to continue as advisor to the club for another two years."
Rangnick will replace former coach Solskjaer, who was sacked after a humiliating 4-1 defeat at Watford earlier this month, which was the team's seventh loss in 13 games in all competitions and left them eighth in the Premier League.
Former midfielder and one of Solskjaer's assistants, Michael Carrick, led the team to victory at Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday and supervised them in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday.
Karik will continue to lead the first team until Rangnick has completed his work visa.
Rangnick began his coaching career in the early eighties of the last century and is known for his style of playing based on a lot of energy, high pressure, strength and ferocity, a style that has many fans.
