Called "the cannibal of Ventas", in reference to the district of Madrid where the police had discovered the macabre remains, the suspect - Albert SG - has been tried since Monday for "murder" and "desecration of a corpse".

Strangled and cut out

According to the indictment, the facts date back to early 2019 when the suspect had an argument with his 69-year-old mother in the apartment they shared in the Las Ventas neighborhood, where the capital's bullring is located. Spanish.

After strangling her, he dragged her body to his room to cut it up with a saw and two kitchen knives "to make it disappear."

"Once the body was cut into pieces, the accused occasionally fed on the remains of the corpse for 15 days and stored other pieces in several plastic containers in the apartment and in the refrigerator", continues the prosecution in this document.

He also put other pieces in garbage bags and threw them away.

A "Dantesque scene"

According to local media, a police officer, heard during the trial, said that when he entered the apartment, the accused said he ate some raw pieces, cooked others and also gave some to the dog.

The man, who police said had drug problems, was arrested in February 2019 as police searched for his mother who was reported missing by a friend, local media reported.

When asked by the police if his mother was inside the apartment, he said yes and let the officers in.

"We came across a dantesque scene," said a police officer on condition of anonymity on the Telecinco channel.

Prosecutors also demanded that the "cannibal of Ventas" pay 90,000 euros in damages to his older brother.
