A man, suspected of assaulting a bartender in Palavas-les-Flots (Hérault), was arrested on June 23, said the police on Thursday. He is suspected of having struck the victim about ten times with a sharp object, on June 10.

That evening, while the bartender, who had finished his service, returned to his vehicle in a parking lot in the seaside resort, he had been approached by an individual. The latter is accused of having hit him with a sharp object, while the bartender entered the car.

Judged on July 15

If the victim protected himself, he received a dozen blows, to the upper limbs, the cervical and the skull. The bartender managed to flee and call for help. Suffering from multiple wounds, he was notified 45 days of work interruption.

After careful investigation, investigators from Lunel's research brigade arrested a 50-year-old man suspected of being the bartender's attacker. He has been placed in pre-trial detention and will be tried on July 15.
