His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, in his capacity as Chairman of the Dubai International Financial Center, has approved the appointment of Fadel Al Ali as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Financial Services Authority.

Maktoum bin Mohammed:

Saeb Aigner contributed to the development of independent regulations and standards that cemented the reputation of the DIFC.

The appointment of Fadel Al Ali comes after the retirement of Saeb Aigner on the first of June 2021, where, over the 17 years since his appointment in the Dubai Financial Services Authority, he contributed to strengthening its position as an effective and independent regulator of financial services in Dubai, and preserving the leading position of the DIFC in the region and globally. .

His Highness said: “Saeb has contributed over 17 years in developing independent systems and standards that have established global reputation and confidence in the DIFC. We have high confidence in Fadhel Al Ali, and he is optimistic about his developmental role in the Dubai Financial Services Authority.”

Al-Ali held the position of Vice Chairman of the Dubai Financial Services Authority, Executive Vice President, Head of Corporate and Investment Banking Services at First Abu Dhabi Bank, and Director of Dubai Energy Company.

He also held positions at Dubai Holding, including CEO and Head of Finance.

He was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Real Estate Group and Dubai International, in addition to a member of the Board of Directors of several other boards.
