At the time of his arrest, Hakim Berrebouh was the subject of an “international arrest warrant issued by an investigating magistrate from the Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction (JIRS) of Marseille”, specialized in the fight against serious crime, within the framework of 'a rogatory commission opened since early 2020 for "international drug trafficking".

In April 2014, his brother, Mehdi Berrebouh, was killed at the age of 27 at the Kalashnikov in broad daylight on the A7 motorway in Marseille when he had just left prison.

According to investigators, this murder was one of the many bloody episodes of the hatred between two family "clans", the Berrebouh-Tir on one side, the Remadnia on the other, concerning the supremacy of drug trafficking, mainly cannabis, in part of the northern districts.
