Maersk Kanoo Emirates, the provider of integrated logistics services for container transportation, announced the official launch of its first integrated logistics services center in Dubai, in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza).

“The launch of our first integrated logistics operations center in the UAE is an important milestone for us, as it reinforces our commitment to customers in the Middle East,” said Richard Morgan, Maersk's regional managing director for West and Central Asia.

In turn, Christopher Cook, managing director of Maersk Emirates, said: "We are looking forward to pumping more investments to enhance our expansion in Dubai in the near future, as Dubai represents for us a gateway to strengthening the base of dealers in the GCC region, Africa and the Indian subcontinent." .

The storage and distribution center, which extends over an area of ​​10,000 square meters, in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), will accommodate various types of commodities for many sectors, including the petrochemicals sector, the retail sector, personal products, consumer goods, technology products and automobiles, among others.


environmental commitment

Maersk confirmed that it is strongly committed to decarbonizing logistics and services, pointing out that solar panels will be installed on the roof of the center, to meet its full electrical energy requirements.

The production capacity of clean energy that will be generated by these solar panels, amounting to 434 megawatt hours / year, will contribute to avoiding more than 1,700 tons of carbon emissions over 10 years, which is equivalent to achieving a reduction in carbon emissions by planting more than 70,000 seedlings over 10 years. .


global presence

Maersk's integrated logistics center in Dubai will be an important addition to its current global presence, which includes more than 250 storage centers, 85 of which were opened in 2021 alone, with an area of ​​more than 1.5 million square meters distributed across 50 countries.

The advantages of the new center will not be limited to its strategic location close to the shipping lines;

Rather, it will be close to Al Maktoum International Airport, which will allow it to meet requests from customers who want to ship their goods by air, as well as deal with small shipments of less than a full standard container.
