French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna

President Emmanuel Macron on Friday appointed Catherine Colonna, France's current ambassador to Britain, as foreign minister as part of government reform after his re-election in April, the Elysee Palace said.

Announcing the new names from the front steps of the palace, the Elysee's Secretary-General said that the current Minister of Finance and Economy Bruno Le Maire and the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin would retain their posts, confirming previous reports.

Ministers will report to Elizabeth Borne, 61, who was chosen by Macron on Monday as head of the new government, becoming the second woman to hold the post in France.
