8:22 am: On the agenda of the Assembly

This Tuesday at 3 p.m. will officially begin the 16th legislature in the National Assembly.

The session will be chaired by the dean, José Gonzalez (RN), 79 years old.

The election of the President of the Assembly will then take place.

As a reminder Yaël Braun-Pivet is in the running.

The groups will then have until 6 p.m. to submit to the General Secretariat of the Presidency their composition as well as the list of deputies who are similar to them.

8:17 am: LFI and the RN excluded from any coalition project

8:15 am: The refusals of the opposition parties

For the time being, the opposition parties have all ruled out entering the government from the outset.

Elisabeth Borne therefore says she can count on 252 deputies, seven more than the 245 of the presidential majority, but far from the 289 necessary to have an absolute majority.

Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne continues her negotiations on Tuesday to avoid blockages in the absence of an absolute majority in the National Assembly, but the Macron camp should however manage to elect Yaël Braun-Pivet, the first woman to this post.

After her first consultations with the presidents of majority groups, Aurore Bergé (Renaissance), Jean-Paul Mattéi (Modem) and Laurent Marcangeli (Horizons), the Prime Minister enters the tough Tuesday by meeting in turn the leaders of the LR, socialist, communist and ecologist groups in the Assembly.

In a letter she sent to them on Monday, the Prime Minister explained that she took note of their refusal "to enter into a dynamic of coalition building or an overall agreement with the majority group" but added that she would nevertheless like " deepen our discussion to better identify the essential points of convergence and disagreement".

From 9 a.m., she will receive Olivier Marleix (LR), then Boris Vallaud at 7 p.m. and Julien Bayou and Cyrielle Chatelain (EELV) at 8 p.m.
