The covid-19 epidemic is resurgent worldwide, with nearly a million deaths, including almost 200,000 in the United States alone, while Argentina had a record Monday.

New measures are therefore taken by the States and in France it is the cities that are toughening their measures.

In France, the positivity rate for tests is increasing, cities are protecting themselves

France recorded 5,298 new cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours, less than this weekend, but the positivity rate increased for the third day in a row, according to data released by Public Health France.

This is less than this weekend, when the country had counted nearly 13,500 new cases on Saturday and more than 10,500 new cases on Sunday.

The positivity rate (proportion of the number of positive people compared to the total number of people tested) has increased to 5.9% (against 5.7% the day before).

Since the start of the epidemic, at least 31,338 Covid-related deaths have been recorded in France, 53 more than the day before, including 20,778 in hospitals.

After Marseille and Nice, Lyon in turn hardened anti-Covid measures on Monday by limiting public gatherings to 1,000 people, extending the wearing of compulsory masks and limiting visits to nursing homes.

Italy imposes a test on travelers coming from Paris and other French regions

Italy will require all travelers from several French regions, including Ile-de-France and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur, to test negative for Covid-19 before entering its territory, the Minister of Health announced on Monday.

The regions affected by this measure which should come into force in the coming days are Ile-de-France, Hauts-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Provence-Côte-d'Azur, Corsica, Nouvelle -Aquitaine and Occitanie.

UK to close bars and restaurants earlier

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is due to confirm on Tuesday that "pubs, bars and restaurants will have to close at 22:00 from Thursday" in England.

The country had just raised its level of alert on Monday, the health authorities warning that the country risked deploring more than 200 deaths per day in November without "change of course".

More than 60 rich countries join the WHO vaccine access scheme

More than 60 rich countries, but not China or the United States, have joined the device put in place by the WHO to facilitate access of poor countries to the vaccine against the coronavirus, according to the list published on Monday.

Known as Covax, this program is intended to facilitate access for poor countries to the vaccine against Covid-19.

More than 90 low and middle income countries or entities will join the scheme as well as 64 high income countries, the WHO said in a statement.

Nearly 1 million deaths worldwide, nearly 200,000 in the United States

The official death toll from the Covid-19 pandemic is expected to reach 200,000 deaths on Monday in the United States, where the coronavirus currently kills four times more proportionally than in Europe.

Worldwide, the 1 million death mark will soon be crossed (more than 963,000 deaths).

Argentina posted a new daily record of Covid-19-related deaths on Monday with 429 deaths, bringing the country's total death toll to 13,482, authorities said.
