Catalonia and Australia reconfigure
The region of Catalonia on Saturday ordered the confinement of an area comprising some 200,000 inhabitants, around Lerida in the northeast of Spain, due to the multiplication of cases of contagion. Groupings of more than ten people are prohibited and visits to retirement homes are suspended. This reconfiguration coincides with the reopening of the borders on Saturday to nationals of 12 new countries.
In Australia, the authorities have also decided to reintroduce measures. Thousands of Melbourne residents, living in several buildings in the north of the city, will have to remain confined to their homes for at least five days starting on Saturday, after the discovery of 108 new cases in the state of Victoria (south- is), a record daily increase for months in Australia. This new measure comes when more than 300,000 inhabitants of the second city of the country are already reconfigured from Wednesday until the end of July.
High-risk national holiday in the United States
The United States celebrated a high-risk national holiday on Saturday after a new record number of infections the day before. The American celebrations of July 4, Independence Day, traditionally marked by parades, marching bands, barbecues and large fireworks in a friendly atmosphere have been revised downward across the country. But a "tribute to America" was to be paid by President Donald Trump in the federal capital of Washington, from 6.30 p.m. local time (12 a.m. in France).

By far the hardest hit country with 2.8 million cases and at least 129,584 deaths, the United States recorded 57,683 new infections on Friday, according to Johns Hopkins University counts, a record level since the start of the pandemic.
South and West are facing an outbreak that "puts the whole country at risk," according to Anthony Fauci, director of the United States Institute of Infectious Diseases. In Florida (southeast), a new daily record of contaminations was broken on Saturday (+11,458 patients).

More than 4,000 tests of the Covid-19 were carried out before the start of the Formula 1 season in Austria this weekend, none of which turned out to be positive, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced on Saturday and F1. The 2020 F1 season should have started in mid-March in Australia but has been delayed by the pandemic. It begins, at a minimum, with a series of eight races in Europe until early September, for the hour behind closed doors and following a strict sanitary protocol.
29,893 dead in France
In France, the last assessment dates back to Friday evening. According to figures then communicated by the Directorate of Health, the authorities had recorded 18 new deaths in 24 hours in hospitals, bringing to 29,893 the total number of deaths since the start of the epidemic. At the same time, the number of patients with Covid-19 in intensive care continued to drop, with 560 patients affected, 13 less than on Thursday.

A total of 7,990 people are hospitalized for this infection (125 new admissions, including 12 serious cases, but a balance of -158 in 24 hours). Since the start of the epidemic, 104,904 people have been hospitalized, including 18,415 in intensive care. 77,060 people returned home.
Over 527,000 deaths worldwide
The pandemic has killed at least 527,241 people worldwide, according to an AFP report from official sources on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. GMT. Over 11 million cases of infection have been diagnosed in 196 countries and territories. The United States is the most affected country, with 129,584 deaths. This is followed by Brazil (63,174), the United Kingdom (44,198), Italy (34,854) and France (29,893).
