OM won against Lorient on Saturday on the 8th day of Ligue 1. The day before, Rennes lost at home against Angers.

Olympique de Marseille returned to success in Lorient (1-0) during the 8th day of Ligue 1, three days after its defeat at Olympiakos (1-0) in the Champions League.

OM are temporarily back at the foot of the podium (4th).

Under the pouring rain, the Argentinian Leonardo Balerdi, one of the Marseille recruits, headed his first goal in the league (54th) taking advantage of a big mistake by the Lorient goalkeeper, Paul Nardi.

Rennes lose to Angers

The day before, Stade Rennais had missed the opportunity to temporarily take the lead of Ligue 1 on its own by conceding at home its first defeat of the season against Angers (1-2).

The Breton club thus remains 3rd on equal points (15) with PSG (2nd), and two lengths behind Lille the leader, who plays in Nice on Sunday.

The Rennais opened the scoring by Adrien Hunou (18th), then Sofiane Boufal (27th) and Angelo Fulgini 57th) scored for Angers, from 11th to 6th provisional place (13 pts).
