In the ancient kingdom of Dahomey, the recade was a royal scepter in the shape of a crook or ax, which symbolized the authority of the ruler.

Some of these objects have recently left Parisian galleries to reach Benin.

Before soon admiring in their new setting the royal treasures of Abomey recently restored by France, the Beninese can discover this small Recades Museum.
