As Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, continues its military invasion of Ukraine, the Diplomatic Committee of the LDP and others have asked the government to implement UN reforms such as curbing the exercise of veto rights by the permanent members. We have put together a proposal for diplomatic efforts.

Regarding Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, the UN Security Council has rejected a resolution calling for the immediate withdrawal of Russian troops due to Russia's veto power as a permanent member.

In response to this situation, joint meetings such as the Liberal Democratic Party's diplomatic subcommittee have put together a proposal to the government, saying that UN reform is necessary.

In the proposal, the permanent members of the Security Council will restrain the exercise of veto rights, the so-called "former enemy country clause" of the UN Charter, which defines Japan as an "enemy country", will be deleted, and Japan will become a permanent member of the Security Council. I am seeking effort.

The Liberal Democratic Party plans to make adjustments within the party and submit recommendations to the government.
