Dettingen unter Teck (dpa / lsw) - The corona pandemic is ruining the Christmas business for chocolate manufacturers in Baden-Württemberg.

The Rübezahl Schokoladen company from Dettingen unter Teck (Esslingen district), for example, has produced five million less chocolate Santa Claus figures than usual this year.

"Around 70 million chocolate Santas and Nicholas have left the production lines of our plants," said a spokesman for the group.

The demand is lower because there are fewer customers in the shops.

The group of companies expects a single-digit percentage decline in sales for the Christmas business.

The demand from abroad has also decreased significantly.

"There are even countries here that have not ordered any seasonal products from us this Christmas season," said the spokesman.

The Christmas business also declined slightly at the chocolate manufacturer Klett from Nehren (Tübingen district).

Because of the Corona crisis, fewer chocolate Santa Clauses were exported abroad, reported the SWR.
