The trial begins today (22nd) against Lee Jae-yong, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, who was accused of illegal succession of the Samsung Group's management rights.

Section 25-2 of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Agreement (Deputy Judge Jeong-yeop Lim, Deputy Judge Kwon Seong-soo and Kim Sun-hee) opens the date of preparation for the first trial for Vice Chairman Lee.

The preparatory date for the trial is a place to confirm the defendant's position on the prosecution and to discuss future plans, so Vice-Chairman Lee does not need to be present.

The prosecution believes that the Future Strategy Office of the Samsung Group has carefully planned a merger between Samsung C&T and Cheil Industries in order to succeed Vice Chairman Lee's management rights.

Instead of raising the stock price of Cheil Industries, it is alleged that various illegal transactions were carried out, such as disseminating false information or concealing important information in order to lower the stock price of Samsung C&T.

Vice-Chairman Lee is innocent, saying that the merger at the time was "a legitimate activity due to business needs."
