Lavrov: The West has been turning Ukraine into a Russophobic state for many years

At a press conference following the talks with his Mongolian counterpart Batmunkhin Battsetseg, he elaborated on the reasons for the current unprecedented increase in tension.

The minister pointed to the destructive lines of the United States and its satellites in solving their own selfish problems at the expense of the interests of other countries.

“One of the most dangerous manifestations of this line of the West was the long-term activity to turn Ukraine into an openly Russophobic neo-Nazi state, a military foothold in order to create threats to the security of the Russian Federation,” Lavrov said.

At the end of April, Russian President Vladimir Putin drew the attention of European Council President Charles Michel to the Russophobic policy practiced by the leaders of the countries of the European Union. 

Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said that Western countries are engaged in inciting violence and Russophobia in Ukraine.
