The delegation headed by Her Highness aims during the visit to build bridges of communication with the international cultural community, exchange knowledge and experiences in the museums sector with experts and relevant institutions specialized in this field to ensure its sustainability and highlight its strength and importance in preserving the heritage, culture and history of countries and cities, and charting the course for the future of museums in the coming years.

With its main theme “The Power of Museums”, ICOM Prague 2022 brings together thousands of experts from all over the world in the Czech Republic and the conference will focus on four main themes, including economic and environmental sustainability, digitalization and new technologies, civil society and community building, and leadership and management.

The UAE delegation from Dubai Culture includes the Executive Director of the Culture and Heritage Sector, Mona Faisal Al Gurg, the Executive Director of the President’s Office, Maryam Al-Afradi, the Director of Projects in the Museums Department, Maryam Muzaffar Ahli, Engineer Rashad Bukhash, from Aecom Emirates, and many members of Aecom. Founded in 1946 under the umbrella of the United Nations, the International Council of Museums is a global organization specialized in the field of museums, their development and coordination, and its membership includes more than 50,000 specialists from 122 countries, and nearly 20,000 museums around the world.

Aecom - UAE, in cooperation with Dubai Culture, Dubai Municipality and the Department of Economy and Tourism, had submitted the UAE bid to host Icom 2025 in Dubai under the title “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Societies”, making the emirate the first city in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region. It hosts this prestigious international conference.
