On the 20th, a 55-year-old driver was arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department on suspicion of hit-and-run after hitting a man in his 80s with a large trailer at an intersection in Taito-ku, Tokyo.

He said to the investigation that he "did not notice that he had hit a person."

The person arrested was Masakazu Sato (55), a driver in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo.

According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, before 5:30 am on the 20th, he drove a large trailer at the intersection in Ueno, Taito-ku, hit and run Mr. Shigemasa Nishiwaki (89), who lived near the road, and escaped as it was. There are suspicions such as hit-and-run.

It is said that the suspect was identified because the security cameras in the vicinity showed the large trailer running away during the time when the accident was reported.

In response to the investigation, he stated that he did not notice that he had hit a person.

At that time, the large trailer was waiting for a traffic light in front of the intersection, and it seems that he hit a man when he departed, so the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the situation at that time in detail.

The site is an intersection right next to Ueno Hirokoji Station on the Tokyo Metro.
