Given the bright career prospects, many IT professionals around the world are looking for new jobs.
In a survey by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) of 9,864 IT workers around the world, nearly three-quarters (73 percent) said they wanted to find a new job in the next two to three years.
The main motive for being unfaithful to the previous employer is the hope for better career opportunities - that is what 63 percent of the participants answered.
In Germany there were 648 respondents, 79 percent of whom were considering changing jobs.
BCG published the investigation on Tuesday in Munich.
This is part of an international online survey of more than 208,000 employees in over 190 countries.
The study was carried out in collaboration with The Network, an international network of job placement portals.
However, the survey period in late autumn last year was some time ago.
The 9,864 participants were asked, among other things, whether they were looking for a job, their motives for changing jobs and what demands they place on a job.
Few of them want to go back to the office completely
The participants came from many industries, not just the software industry.
Employees from industry or the healthcare sector who work in IT jobs were also surveyed.
The desire for flexible working hours and the possibility of at least part of the time to work at home is also cross-border: only five percent wanted to spend their entire working hours in the office.
Exactly a quarter, on the other hand, did not want to go to the company at all, but only wanted to work from home.
However, the willingness to go abroad for a new job has decreased - possibly due to the corona.
In the previous survey in 2018, more than two thirds said they were ready to move abroad.
In 2020 it was 55 percent.
