The Korean women's volleyball team, which is challenging for a medal for the first time in 45 years with world-class giant Kim Yeon-kyung, set a unique record at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Korea will advance to the quarterfinals with 3rd place in Group A and will compete with Turkey, 3rd place in Group B, to advance to the quarterfinals tomorrow (4th) at 9 am at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

Korea, Turkey, the United States, Brazil, the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Italy, Serbia, and the Dominican Republic are the only teams in Asia that made it to the quarterfinals of this tournament.

China, the winner of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, and Japan, the host country, who won the women's gold medal in volleyball, which became an official event at the first Tokyo Olympics in 1964, suffered the disappointment of being eliminated from the group stage.

According to 'My Info', a reporting information site, this is the first time that only one Asian country has advanced to the quarterfinals since the 1996 Atlanta Games, when the number of participating teams increased to 12.

Our women's volleyball team won the bronze medal in Olympic medals for the first time in the history of Korean ball games at the 1976 Montreal Games, and this time with Kim Yeon-kyung and the Golden Generation, we look forward to replaying the glory.
