President Moon Jae-in and Egyptian President el-Sisi intensively discussed the ongoing K-9 self-propelled artillery contract between the two countries at the summit.
The two leaders emphasized that the K-9 self-propelled artillery contract was a result of bilateral defense cooperation and that they would work together to reach a final settlement.
[President Moon Jae-in: We agree that it will be a representative success story of win-win cooperation between Korea and Egypt through technological cooperation and local production… .]
No final conclusion was reached at the summit.
However, a Blue House official said, "We are in the final stages of negotiations, and we are watching the results."
After the two leaders finished their talks, they called the working group separately at a luncheon and instructed them to “consult until the last minute.” Accordingly, Kang Eun-ho, Director of the DAPA, and Mohamed Morsi, Minister of Defense, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy entered into final coordination over detailed conditions.
A Blue House official also expressed anticipation about the possibility of signing a contract during President Moon's visit, saying, "It seems so."
President Moon is on his way home after a six-night, eight-day tour, ending with a visit to economic sites related to Korean companies here in Cairo.
