Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong and U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blincoln met in the UK to discuss issues such as the ROK-U.S. alliance and the denuclearization of North Korea.
In a press release in the name of a spokesperson for the US State Department on the 12th local time, Secretary Jeong and Secretary Blincoln reaffirmed that the ROK-U.S. alliance is a key pillar of peace and security in Northeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific region and world peace and prosperity.
The two Ministers also explained that they reaffirmed their commitment to close cooperation between the United States, South Korea and Japan on a wide range of issues, including efforts toward the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
The Secretary and the Minister emphasized the importance of US-ROK cooperation in advancing shared values and responding to current and future challenges.
The State Department also emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation to address issues important to regional stability, including the Myanmar crisis, the State Department said.
