On Tuesday, American businesswoman Kim Kardashian joined the billionaire club for the first time on Forbes magazine's list of the world's richest people.

Kardashian rose to fame on a reality TV show before she owned beauty and underwear product lines.

Forbes said the fortune of the 40-year-old Kardashian is currently estimated "at about $ 1 billion, up from $ 780 million in October, thanks to the two lucrative businesses as well as returns from reality TV, promotional deals and a number of fewer investments."

Forbes estimates mean that Kardashian has caught up with her husband Kanye West, who is on the verge of breaking up with, in the billionaire club.

On Tuesday, the magazine estimated West's fortune at $ 1.8 billion, much of it from deals with his Yeezy shoe and fashion line.

Kardashian filed for divorce from West, 43, in February, citing irreversible differences between the two.
