Among the (many) concerns that do not plead in favor of the electric car, there is one on which we are systematically wrong: it is not so much the autonomy that is problematic, it is the charging time.
In fact, nobody would think of complaining about a gasoline car which would swallow up its tank in 400 km, since it is "recharged" in 3 minutes flat.
And this is where Kia's point lies.
The EV6 is indeed the first "affordable" electric on the market (with its technical Hyundai Ioniq 5 twin of course) to carry 800V batteries, ready for all ultra-fast charging stations.
This means that both on the Ionity network (of which the brand is a partner) and on the Tesla network (which will soon open to other brands), the Kia recovers 80% of the charge in 18 minutes.
Better: it converts the 400V currents supplied by conventional terminals into 800V, and therefore recharges there just as quickly.
Of course, we are still far from the 3 minutes flat, but the fact is that we are moving slowly in the right direction.
