Hatice Cengiz

's legal battle

for justice continues.

The Turkish girlfriend of the Saudi journalist

Jamal Khashoggi

, who disappeared after crossing the threshold of the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in 2018, filed an appeal against the decision of the Turkish Ministry of Justice to transfer the file to Saudi Arabia.

A decision arrived following the request of the prosecutor, motivated by the normalization of relations between Turkey and Saudi Arabia, which collapsed precisely because of the Khashoggi case and which effectively puts an end to the judicial matter concerning 26 Saudis, accused by Ankara of killing the journalist and having concealed his body, which was never found.

Khashoggi was a fierce opponent of the prince heir to the throne of Riyadh, Mohammed Bin Salman.

On 2 October 2018, the journalist went to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to collect the documents necessary for the marriage with Hatice Cengiz without ever leaving it.
