Actor Lee Jung-jae won the Best Actor Award at the American Critics' Choice Awards for 'The Squid Game'.
At the 27th Critics' Choice Awards held at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles on the 13th (local time), Lee Jung-jae won the Best Actor in a Drama Series for 'The Squid Game'.
Jung-jae Lee beats rivals Sterling K. Brown ('This Is Us'), Mike Coulter ('Evil'), Brian Cox ('Succession'), Jeremy Strong ('Succession') and Billy Porter ('Pose') When his name was called, he went up on stage and expressed his surprise, "Oh my god!"
He continued, "Thank you for the Critics' Choice Awards. I don't know how to express this joy. I'm also grateful to Netflix and the 'Squid Game' team."
Following the previous American Actors Guild Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards, Lee Jung-jae took home the Best Actor trophy once again.
This is the first feat for a Korean male actor.
'Squid Game' is a work that tells the story of participants who risk their lives for a prize of 45.6 billion won. It was released in September last year and gained worldwide popularity.
Lee Jung-jae played the role of Seong Ki-hoon, participant number 456 in this work.
