The cafe The Elephant House in Edinburgh is well attended by Harry Potter fans from around the world as it is said to be where JK Rowling wrote the first of the seven books about the sorcerer. A myth that, according to the author himself, is not correct:
- I had written on the Harry Potter books for several years before I set foot in that cafe, the author writes on Twitter.
Instead, she shows a picture that shows the true place of Potter's birth. A rental apartment at Clapham Junction in south-west London over what was then a sports shop. She adds that the very idea of the story came to her mind on a train between Manchester and London.
A bookstore in the Portuguese city of Porto has also become a popular destination for HP fans, as it is said to have inspired JK Rowling's magical world. But also that fantasy bubble the author now chooses to punctuate on twitter.
- I've never visited this bookstore. I didn't even know it existed, Rowling writes.
The most misleading myth according to the author himself is the one who claims that there is a special parking lot in Edinburgh where she should have filmed the seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
- I can't drive a car, she informs on Twitter.
