A male patient who raped a female patient at a psychiatric hospital in Jeonbuk has been handed over to the prosecution.

The Jeonbuk National Police Agency announced today (15th) that it had sent a man in his 50s without detention on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases concerning the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes.

A is accused of sexually assaulting a female patient who was alone in a ward at a psychiatric hospital in Jeollabuk-do in July.

At that time, there were four people in the hospital, including a nursing assistant, but it is said that he only noticed after 10 to 15 minutes that Mr. A had entered the female patient's room while doing other work.

The police also sent the hospital manager B (40s) to the prosecution without detention on charges of destroying evidence, such as deleting a closed circuit (CC) TV containing scenes of sexual assault.

Mr. B denied the allegation, saying that it was deleted by mistake, but the police judged that it was intentional, considering that the video could be deleted only by operating the machine.

A police official said, "We restored the erased closed circuit (CC) TV, confirmed the crime, and sent those involved without detention."
