Iraq announces an outbreak of bird flu on a farm in Baghdad

The World Organization for Animal Health said on Friday that Iraq had recorded an outbreak of a highly pathogenic strain of H5N8 bird flu on a farm southeast of Baghdad.

The Paris-based organization added in a report from its representative in Iraq that the outbreak that occurred last month in a poultry farm in Wasit Governorate killed 24,060 birds out of 158,000 birds in the farm.
