Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) is pushing for accelerated professional recognition procedures for refugees from Ukraine.
"I have instructed the job centers to immediately record the profession in which people used to work so that they can apply specifically for the skills they have," Heil said in an interview with NDR Info on Tuesday.
According to the minister, relief in this regard has been overdue in Germany for 20 years.
"We will need that in the future anyway, because we will need targeted immigration of skilled workers." The crisis must also be seen as an opportunity.
According to Heil, the G7 labor ministers are meeting in Wolfsburg on Tuesday to discuss how refugees can get jobs more quickly.

Heil invited his colleagues from the seven leading Western industrialized countries to a conference there.
In the VW city, the main focus should be on the change in the industrial world of work.
Heil demanded in advance that the upheavals - driven primarily by digitization, electrification and climate protection technologies - must be socially just.
For this, for example, regular offers for further education and training are necessary, also for formally less qualified employees.
The consequences of the war in Ukraine should also be discussed.
The politicians also want to talk to EU Commissioner for Social Affairs and Employment, Nicolas Schmit, about occupational safety standards in international supply chains and health at work.
