Ingolstadt (dpa / lby) - The state horticultural show in Ingolstadt should at least officially start a year later.

The show was canceled last year due to the pandemic, the opening of the postponed event is now taking place today.

However, for the time being, visitors are still not able to enter the garden show area due to the corona crisis.

When the flower show will open to the public is still completely unclear.

This depends on the seven-day incidence, which must fall below 100 for an opening in Ingolstadt.

In the past few days, this value for the Upper Bavarian city was well above this limit.

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) and Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber (Free Voters) are expected at the small opening ceremony.

The event is to be broadcast to the public on the website https://ingolstadt2020.de.

In Ingolstadt, a suburb in the northwest was upgraded with a new 23 hectare green area for the garden show.

The state horticultural show is scheduled to run until October 3rd.

For the first time there will be two state horticultural shows in Bavaria this year.

In Lindau on Lake Constance, a smaller garden show is planned from May 20th to September 26th, which was scheduled for this year.
