The court of Saint-Brieuc (Côtes-d'Armor) condemned this Wednesday a 73-year-old man to pay a fine and to pay damages.
The man was convicted of shooting a cat with a rifle in April 2021 near his home on the island of Bréhat (Côtes-d'Armor).

The cat trapped and then shot
The respondent had claimed to have only put into practice the advice of a veterinarian and that the cat, sick, should be euthanized.
The feline had first been captured in a trap.
The septuagenarian's lawyer had asked for his release.
The prosecutor had requested a suspended prison sentence.
Justice finally sentenced the shooter to a fine of 1,000 euros, including 500 suspended, and a 200 euro fine.
The Breton will also have to pay 100 euros to each of the two associations for the defense of animals having brought civil action.
