Umrah pilgrims coming from outside Saudi Arabia who arrived in the Kingdom this week began performing Umrah today after completing a mandatory three-day quarantine, in light of Riyadh easing the measures it imposes to limit the outbreak of the new Corona virus.
Aircraft carrying about 400 pilgrims from Pakistan and Indonesia landed at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Sunday, where the passengers underwent medical checks.
The new procedures stipulate that Umrah pilgrims coming from outside Saudi Arabia, who are only required to be between the ages of 18 and 50, are allowed to perform Umrah and that the number of those who are allowed to perform it should not exceed 20,000 per day.
Umrah pilgrims coming from outside the Kingdom must undergo a mandatory three-day quarantine before they are allowed to enter the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
Saudi Arabia closed its borders to foreign pilgrims in February, and banned its citizens and foreign residents from performing Umrah as well in March.
In July, it allowed a limited number of domestic pilgrims to perform the Hajj.
