  • Festive gatherings offering drinks or food are prohibited from 30 people.

  • This measure applies in Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire and Sarthe.

One more measure to fight against the circulation of the coronavirus in Pays-de-la-Loire.

Festive gatherings of more than 30 members will, from this Tuesday, be prohibited in the three departments most affected by the pandemic currently: Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire and Sarthe, announces the regional prefect Didier Martin.

But these bans only concern establishments open to the public where food and drink are offered.

In short: weddings, birthday parties, association meetings and other evenings between colleagues where, at one point, the guests take off their masks to consume while continuing to discuss.

"In this case it will still be possible to meet but only within the limit of 30 people maximum", explains Prefect Didier Martin.

No restriction in the private sphere

Events that do not offer drinks, aperitif cakes, or meals are still allowed to bring together more than 30 people, provided that health protocol is respected (seats, distance from a seat, wearing a mask, etc.), specifies the prefect.

As for student celebrations, "it would be better to postpone them" since "barrier gestures are hardly respected".

Note that all of these measures only concern places and buildings open to the public (rooms, restaurants, bars, marquees, etc.).

They do not impose themselves in the private sphere, like homes and their gardens.

So many nuances that will not be easy to remember for the general public.

“I call on everyone to use common sense and responsibility and I recommend not meeting with more than 30 people for festive or friendly events at home.

We will get there if, collectively, we behave responsibly, ”concludes the Prefect.
