He came close to a (surprise) victory in the first round.

Andy Kerbrat, candidate for the Union de gauche Nupes, aged 31, ended up well ahead, with 46.62% of the vote, in the second constituency - the only 100% Nantes - of Loire-Atlantique, ahead of the outgoing MP Valérie Oppelt (Together!).

Which only gets 28.44%.

The results promised to be tight, it was not at all the case.

Slapped, Valérie Oppelt, who had obtained 40% of the votes in the first round during the same legislative elections of 2017 (against Carole Malard La France Insoumise at 15.83%), counter-attacked at the microphone of France 3: “It takes a Republican outburst to prevent this extreme left which risks reaching the National Assembly which will first block all projects, which will put our youth in debt to the tune of 330 billion euros, which is currently sitting on the Republic and all their representatives... we saw it with this hatred of the police, who propose solutions to seek out the most fragile who are not tenable..."

In Nantes, Jean-Luc Mélenchon had created a sensation by coming first with 33% of the votes in the first round of the presidential election, almost ten points more than his French score.
