“We suspect that we have been victims of a hacker attack today, Monday August 8,” the convenience store chain, which has 175 stores in the Scandinavian country, wrote on Facebook.

“We cannot use the cash registers or receive payments. We are therefore closed until we know the extent of it (the hack)”, is it specified in the message published at midday.

The breakdown occurred suddenly, explained the Danish general manager of the brand.

"Cash systems stopped working in all stores, and employees started reporting it. This has never happened before," Jesper Østergaard told public broadcaster DR.

No information on the reopening of stores has been communicated.

“There is no (reopening) timetable at the moment,” Mr Østergaard added.

Based in Irving, Texas, 7-Eleven operates directly or under license more than 77,000 stores worldwide.
