Many places across the country suffered from floods and geological disasters, and local flood disasters occurred in Heilongjiang

There is little precipitation in parts of Yunnan and Guangdong, and drought continues to develop

  Since the beginning of this year, the rainfall in the south of the Yangtze River, most of South China, and southwestern my country has been less than normal. Yunnan, Guangdong, Zhejiang and other places have experienced urban and rural water supply shortages and agricultural droughts.

Drought disasters have caused a total of 3.924 million disasters in 183 counties (cities, districts) in 10 provinces (regions) including Yunnan, Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Jiangxi.

  In April, most parts of the south entered the flood season one after another. Affected by the rainfall and various localities have made every effort to fight against drought and rescue disasters, the drought conditions in other regions have basically eased except for the ongoing drought in parts of Yunnan and Guangdong.

In general, the national drought disaster situation was lighter than normal. On April 30, affected by the northeast cold vortex, Jiangsu encountered extreme convective weather such as thunderstorms, gales and hail from north to south. The maximum local wind in Nantong reached 14 levels, and 36 counties in 8 cities including Taizhou, Lianyungang, Yangzhou, Xuzhou, and Yancheng ( City, district) 27,000 people were affected by the disaster, causing heavy casualties and economic losses.

  In addition, between 15-16 and 25-27, my country experienced two large-scale sand and dust weather processes. Sandstorms in Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps caused damage to some vegetable greenhouses and agricultural facilities.

North China, Northwest China and other places suffered low temperature freezing and snow disasters

  In April, there were four cold air processes in my country, and the number of cold air was more than normal. Among them, there were two cold wave processes on 12-14 and 24-25, with a large drop in temperature.

Affected by the cold air process, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Ningxia and other places suffered low temperature and freezing disasters, which caused damage to forest and fruit crops in Datong, Jinzhong, Luliang and other places in Shanxi; Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Alar City, Keke Cash crops in Dala City and other places were hit by the disaster.

In addition, an avalanche occurred at the entrance of the highway tunnel in Medog County, Tibet on April 1, and the snow disaster in Gonghe County, Qinghai Province on April 3 caused a house and a utility room to collapse, causing casualties.

The seismic activity level is weak

  In April, there were no earthquakes of magnitude 5.0 or higher in my country's mainland, and the seismic activity level was relatively weak.

There were 8 earthquakes of magnitude 4.0 or higher. The highest magnitude was the magnitude 4.7 earthquake in Ruo County, Tibet on April 7. No disaster loss report was received.

On April 28, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake occurred in northern India. The earthquake was felt in Tibet, Lhasa, Shannan, and Nyingchi, which did not cause major disaster losses.

Forest fires are mainly concentrated in Sichuan, Yunnan, Jilin and other places

  According to preliminary statistics, a total of 68 forest fires occurred in my country in April, with no casualties, a decrease of 158 cases or 66.9% compared with the same period in 2020.

Among them, the temperature in parts of the southwest is relatively high, the precipitation continues to be low, and the high fire risk situation continues. Sichuan and Yunnan have successively experienced many forest fires.

At the same time, with the warming of northern temperatures, key fire risk areas have gradually expanded to the north.

A total of 45 forest fires occurred in the five provinces (regions) of Sichuan, Yunnan, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, and Jilin, accounting for more than 60% of the number of forest fires in April.
