Luckenwalde / Wustermark (dpa / bb) - In the wage conflict in the metal industry, about 120 employees in Wustermark (Havelland district) and 300 employees in Luckenwalde (Teltow-Fläming district) stopped working for 24 hours on Wednesday.
In the course of the day, rallies are planned in front of the gates of the Schaeffler and Mahle Filtersysteme plants.
"We want to set an example in the current collective bargaining round," said Tobias Kunzmann, first authorized representative of IG Metall.
With the exception of the emergency staff and the trainees at the Schaeffler plant, the total of over 400 employees will not resume their work until Thursday morning, according to IG Metall.
The background to the labor disputes is, among other things, the collective bargaining allowance demanded by the union.
According to IG Metall, employees in the east receive around 8.5 percent less hourly pay than in the west due to the higher weekly working hours.
IG Metall is also calling for a volume of 4 percent for wage increases or to secure jobs.
It is also about future collective agreements as well as collectively improved takeover rules for apprentices.
