China News Agency, Beijing, March 7th: Liu Qingfeng from iFlytek: Using artificial intelligence technology to solve the "proposition of the times"

China News Agency reporter Zhang Jun

"The development of artificial intelligence should be closely linked to the 'propositions' of the times, such as technological innovation, healthy China, teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, and the elderly society, and through systematic innovation, to solve the social just-needed problems." Representative of the National People's Congress, director of the National Engineering Laboratory for Speech and Language Information Processing , Liu Qingfeng, chairman of iFLYTEK, said in an interview with a reporter from China News Agency on the 6th.

In 1999, Liu Qingfeng, who was still studying for a doctorate at the University of Science and Technology of China, led a team of 18 college students to found iFlytek.

He has been deeply involved in the field of intelligent voice and artificial intelligence for 22 years.

Liu Qingfeng believes that the development of artificial intelligence should strengthen basic research and occupy the commanding heights of core technologies.

While making continuous breakthroughs in source technologies, we will continue to promote systematic innovation, and through the deep integration of a number of key technologies, we will solve social just-needed problems such as medical care and education, and promote the promotion and application of artificial intelligence in key economic and social fields.

In the field of primary medical care and public health services, artificial intelligence technology is playing an increasingly significant enabling role.

Liu Qingfeng told reporters that taking the common chronic diseases in primary medical care as an example, the population of chronic diseases in China has exceeded 300 million, and the diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases accounts for more than 70% of the total burden of the medical system.

Liu Qingfeng suggested that new technologies and new models should be applied to promote chronic disease management services, benefit more chronic disease groups, and enhance residents' sense of health gain.

At present, the general practice auxiliary diagnosis system developed by the scientific research team led by Liu Qingfeng, "Intelligent Medical Assistant", has been applied in 280 districts and counties in 27 provinces in China after passing the national medical practitioner qualification examination, serving nearly 53,000 primary-level doctors. A total of more than 360 million auxiliary diagnoses have been provided. In actual large-scale applications, it has been proved that artificial intelligence can have the diagnosis and treatment level of grass-roots general practitioners, and can help family doctors achieve grading and effective management of chronic disease populations.

The development of artificial intelligence technology has provided a solution to the difficulties of some disabled people.

According to Liu Qingfeng, the use of intelligent voice and artificial intelligence technology can help hearing-impaired and visually-impaired children achieve smooth communication. This technical direction has been promoted and practiced in special education schools and institutions.

Liu Qingfeng suggested that the combination of multilingual translation technology and 5G network should be the first in the world to carry out barrier-free intelligent communication services, provide voice and sign language subtitle assistance functions, and help the hearing-impaired people "change from hearing to seeing" and visually impaired people "change from seeing to seeing." Listen" to help bridge the "digital divide" of people with disabilities.

"The development of artificial intelligence technology provides a solution for the educational concept of 'teaching students according to their aptitude' advocated by the ancients." Liu Qingfeng said that through artificial intelligence technologies such as automatic scoring and correction technology, knowledge map technology, speech recognition, and semantic understanding, each student's Record and accurately analyze the learning situation, and formulate a personalized learning plan.

Liu Qingfeng suggested that relying on artificial intelligence technology to change teaching from relying on subjective teaching experience to precise teaching based on objective teaching data, while reducing the burden and increasing efficiency for teachers and students, the goal of "teaching according to aptitude" can be achieved.

"The broad prospects and strategic significance of the artificial intelligence industry have become increasingly prominent. It not only leads the global technological revolution and industrial wave, but also penetrates into the lives of more people like water and electricity." Liu Qingfeng said that in the future, he hopes to use artificial intelligence to solve more problems. Issues of social concern, such as the use of artificial intelligence to strengthen the comprehensive screening of depression in adolescents, and the use of artificial intelligence technology to improve the ability to care for the elderly, so that artificial intelligence can truly benefit everyone.
