The press release notes that the British aviation industry is facing an unprecedented crisis.

According to IATA estimates, the damage from the pandemic to the British aviation industry is estimated at £ 51.4 billion, in addition, of the 1.5 million people employed in the industry, 733 thousand have already lost their jobs.

“The damage is exacerbated by government policies, in particular the introduction of quarantine measures, which are killing the demand for air travel.

Without immediate action, the UK will lag behind international partners and quickly lose its position as the world's third largest aviation market.

To reopen air traffic and save thousands of jobs, the UK government must develop a rescue plan for British aircraft, ”the statement said.

The organization believes that in order to overcome the crisis, it is necessary to introduce a testing regime for coronavirus, instead of mandatory quarantine.

Also, British airlines have asked the UK government to introduce a coronavirus testing system by the end of September as an alternative to quarantine for passengers arriving from countries with a high risk of COVID-19 infection.

The corresponding letter was sent by the British aviation industry association Airlines UK.

Earlier it was reported that in Britain the number of cases of coronavirus exceeded 355 thousand.
