The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has formed an international verification team to confirm the safety of the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant promoted by the Japanese government.

As requested by the Korean government, the verification team will include experts from the South Korean side, which will help determine the impact of marine discharge on public safety and the environment.

The verification team consists of experts from 11 IAEA member countries, including Korea, the United States, China and France, and is expected to visit Japan within this year.
